KATEPAL –ROOFING SHINGLES WARRANTY CONDITIONS IN UK

  1. WARRANTY POLICY
    KATEPAL OY gives warranty that roofing shingles (“Shingles”) has been manufactured according to the international “Quality management systems” standard ISO 9001 and complies with the technical specification of KATEPAL OY.
  2. DEFECTS OF SHINGLES UNDER WARRANTY POLICY
    2.1 The warranty includes water impermeability and normal weather load resistance of Shingles in accordance with these warranty conditions. Defect under this warranty policy shall mean a manufacturing imperfection due to which water can penetrate into a building through the installed Shingles and underlay.
    2.2 Natural change in color of Shingles dressing compound is not considered to be a defect nor a shade variation of Shingles of one and the same type and color is not considered to be a defect.
  3. CONDITIONS AND PERIOD OF WARRANTY
    3.1 Roofing and associated completing items have to be installed carefully according to the KATEPAL OY´s Shingles installation instructions.
    3.2 Building owner must save until warranty period expires: a) payment documents (receipts, receipt cash vouchers, invoices, etc.), b) Shingles package labels with lot No. and date of manufacture
    3.3 The minimum slope of the roof is 11,3 degrees (1:5).
    3.4 In case a standard underlay felt produced by KATEPAL OY has been used as a lower layer on the entire roof, the warranty period is maximum 20 years.
    3.5 In case Katepal SuperBase grip underlay felt has been used as a lower layer on the entire roof, the warranty period is maximum 30 years.
    3.6 If underlay felt produced by other manufacturer than KATEPAL OY is used as the lower layer, the warranty for water impermeability of the roof is not effective. The warranty for Shingle’s durability against normal weather load resistance is effective for maximum 20 years.
    3.7 This warranty applies for products sold in UK in 2019.
  4. WARRANTY IS REJECTED WHEN
    4.1 Damage caused by improper transportation or storage of Shingles or by improper installation.
    4.2 Damage caused by improper maintenance or repair of roofing or by unusual mechanical or chemical impacts.
    4.3 Damage to roofing, building and equipment because that vapor barrier, ventilation of under-roofing space and roofing foundation were not provided or made improperly.
    4.4 Damage to roofing caused by «motion» of building and roofing structure or caused by acts of God, natural, ecological and other abnormal events.
  5. APPLICATION OF WARRANTY AND COVERAGE OF WARRANTY
    5.1 Should any defect of Shingles incur, the building Owner shall, within two weeks after their detection, inform the Seller of Shingles in
    writing about the types and scopes of the defects revealed. Any defects shall not be remedied under this warranty without inspection and written permit of the Seller of Shingles and KATEPAL OY.
    5.2 Building Owner shall give opportunity for the Seller of Shingles and authorized representative of KATEPAL OY to review the circumstance and causes of defects.
    5.3 Expenses for review shall be borne by the party responsible for the defects incurred.
    5.4 In case a defect is proven, KATEPAL OY will supply the relevant quantity of new Shingles. The warranty for the supplied material is valid for the remaining period of the initial warranty period.
    5.5 The costs and expenses for delivery of new Singles, disassembling of defective Shingles and installation of new Shingles shall not include to the warranty and the warranty shall not cover any damages whatsoever caused by defective Shingles and KATEPAL OY is not responsible to compensate any costs or damages due to defects.
    5.6 This is the sole and exclusive warranty given by KATEPAL OY with respect to the Shingles. There are no other warranties or guarantees express or implied arising by operation of law or otherwise.
  6. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS OF BITUMEN SHINGLE ROOFS
    6.1 Inspect your roof twice a year at a minimum.
    6.2 Sweep leaves of trees and other rubbish from the roof regularly with a soft street brush to avoid damaging of the roof surface. Branches and big objects should be picked up by hand.
    6.3 Make sure that there is free passage for water from the roof. Clear the roof outlets and their sieves.
    6.4 Remove snow from the roof only, if necessary, layer by layer leaving a minimum 10-20 cm protection layer of snow on the roof. Don’t use any sharp objects for removing ice as they may damage your roof.
  7. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
    This warranty is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Finland without its choice of law rules. All disputes arising out of or relating to this warranty shall be settled in the Court of KATEPAL OY´s domicile.
